Journal 2-copied and pasted this one
Today in class we had a free write for ten minutes where we had to write down any random things about our major, life, school, hometown, or anything that would help us students figure out what topic we wanted to write about. I wrote about that I am attending Ball State so i can get a good degree and eventually get a good job. I also wrote down that I took Chinese and Spanish in High School and that i could possibly write about one of their cultures. I wrote about how i enjoy watching the Dallas Cowboys, Indianapolis Colts, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. I don't think I would find much to write about with football because i doubt i can ever get the chance to interview one of them. After dicussing with my group members what possible topics i could choose i finally limited it down to three. I want to write about either Chinese Culture, abortion, or teen pregnancy. I think chinese culture would be easy for me because i took chinese and i still communicate with my teacher and i can find chinese students on campus to interview. I could write about abortion because i am Catholic and i believe in pro-life so i could interview people from back home in Ohio to see what they have to say on the subject and i could also interview people that think abortion is okay. I could write about teen preganancy because in my high school, we had a problem with teenagers getting pregnant. We had at least 2 girls a year for the past 6 years getting pregnant.

Journal 3..Chapter 4 & 5..kristen thobe
In chapter 4 I read about how to read critically. It helped me how to think critically when I am doing research on my topic. When I find a source I need to get a preminary theseis statement. In order for me to read actively I am suppose to find key points and write any questions down that I would possibly have. Also, write down any ideas down so I do not forget and write down how i might be able to use them in my paper. When I read, I need to pay attention to the genre, important information, big words, and see if it is a primary or secondary source. When I am reading a source I should read it over a few times and pay attention to imporant and new information. In chapter 5 I read about evaluating sources. I need to look for evidence in my sources in order for me to start my paper. I can evaluate websites, blogs, journals, and books. As for my topic, I have not made a complete decision. I am still in between Chinese culture and teen pregnancy. I think both topics are good and I could possibly write a lot about them. I think I would be able to write more about chinese culture but I think I would be more interested about teen pregnancy because it is a topic that has arose in the past few years.

Journal 1:Syllabus
I like how we only have 100 points for the entire semester because it should be pretty easy to get full credit on most of the projects. I do not like how if you miss one class day that we get docked 2 points. If someone has an emergency, they can't help if they can't get to class. I think family emergencies are a little more important than class. I do like how we get those two points back if we attend all other classes. I am looking forward to researching a topic that i enjoy but I am a little bit confused on when we should start researching, what sort of topics can we write about, and do we research this topic everytime we do one of our projects. I think the journals on this blog will be easy points so i will make sure i do all of them. I am looking forward to this class because it seems like it should go smooth.
